CHEF SAM MARVIN BRINGS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SECOND LOCATION OF ECHO & RIG STEAKHOUSE TO SACRAMENTO

The Opening Marks a Shift Towards National Expansion for the Renowned Chef

The Farm-to-Fork capital of America will become home to a pioneering new dining concept when Chef Sam Marvin opens his renowned Echo & Rig Steakhouse at Downtown Commons (DOCO) on Monday April 2. This is the highly anticipated second location for the restaurant, which puts a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.

With its proximity to local farms, Sacramento is at the forefront of fresh, seasonal cuisine sourced right from the city’s backyard, and the arrival of Echo & Rig marks a moment when the city is at the cusp of exploding as a national dining destination. Chef Marvin works closely with local farms, including the family-owned Marin Sun Farms, to ensure sustainable sourcing of produce while providing diners with the freshest possible ingredients, often picked the very same morning.

“The City of Sacramento blew me away from the moment I first stepped foot there,” said Chef Marvin. “There is a palpable undercurrent at play, and the culinary scene is transforming at a rapid pace. This city has access to some of the freshest veggies and farm-based products, and there is an exciting shift towards a more creative, craft-focused world coming into play. Sacramento is on the precipice of becoming the next major foodie destination, and I am thrilled to be part of its incoming food revolution!”

Chef Marvin has developed an unprecedented formula for culinary enterprise that allows him to successfully revitalize sleepy neighborhoods, creating a vibrant environment where there may previously have been none. This came into play first in 2009 when he opened Bottega Louie in Downtown Los Angeles, shape shifting the entire landscape of LA dining, and then again in 2013 with the launch of Echo & Rig Butcher and Steakhouse in Summerlin, Las Vegas – a daring move on Chef Marvin’s part to open a destination restaurant off the Las Vegas strip. As a result of his ability to create magic through food, Chef Marvin was sought out by Kimpton Hotels and The Sacramento Kings to be part of the brand new downtown Sacramento Kimpton Hotel project, paving the way for Chef Marvin to open a second location of Echo & Rig in the farm-to-fork capital of America.

This second location of Echo & Rig will offer a robust menu of entrées, steaks, vegetables, and sides similar to the Las Vegas location. Highlights from the menu include the ever-popular Bavette Steak, Skirt

Steak with Cowboy Marinade and Filet Tenderloin. Additionally, Chef Marvin plans on sourcing unique ingredients and products grown in Sacramento and typically not found in other cities to create staple signature items specifically for the local community. The menu will also include a new category featuring the world’s best beef sourced directly from Tasmania, where the grass-fed cattle consume a perfect balance of saline due to the farms’ close proximity to the coast.

The bar and cocktail program at Echo & Rig, designed for and by bartenders, will offer a cocktail menu almost entirely unique to Sacramento, including the Sherry Cobbler (oloroso sherry, tangerine, berries and mint) with signature drinks such as the Echo Gimlet (Ketel One Vodka, fresh mint, fresh lime juice, peach bitters, sugar) and the Black and Blue Mojito (Atlantico Platino Rum, blackberries, blueberries, fresh mint, fresh lime juice, sugar) also available on the menu. An extensive wine list featuring more than 250 bottles fit for a wide range of budgets will also be available, perfect to complement any dish.

Unique to the Sacramento location, Echo & Rig will offer a unique and extensive coffee program, and has partnered with Midtown Sacramento-based roasting company, Old Soul Co., as the official coffee provider for the restaurant. Old Soul Co. is dedicated to working directly with small farmers to maintain sustainable sourcing while celebrating the artisan aspects of coffee roasting, and will be serving the Sumatra Gayo “Adsenia” Triple Pick, the Remedy Espresso Blend, and the Decaf Ethiopia Sidamo Royal Select beans.

The 7,000-square foot space, connected to the lobby of the new Kimpton The Sawyer Hotel, will highlight brass accents with leather and a specialty mix of wood and marble flooring spread throughout the property, while diners can relax at chic carrara marble tables. The restaurant will offer plenty of indoor seating, enough to accommodate up to 160 guests, with additional outdoor seating for 50 to let diners enjoy the always-perfect California weather. A private dining room, which accommodates up to 40 guests, is also available for larger gatherings and includes state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities.

Echo & Rig is located across from Golden 1 Center on the first floor of DOCO’s high rise tower at 500 J St., Sacramento, CA 95814. The restaurant will be open Monday through Friday for breakfast from 6:30am until 9:00am with lunch and dinner available from 11:00am until 11:00pm, and for weekend brunch from 9:00am until 3:00pm, with dinner service from 4:00pm until 11:00pm.
