DOCO Recognized by ICSC with Prestigious MAXI Award
in Global Retail Competition for “DOCO Al Fresco” Outdoor Dining Concept
Sacramento, Calif. – ICSC (Innovating Commerce Serving Communities), the world’s largest retail real estate organization, has honored DOCO (Downtown Commons) with a 2021 MAXI Award in the “Innovation” category for shopping centers over 500,001 square feet in size. The prestigious award recognized the “DOCO Al Fresco” outdoor dining concept that was developed in partnership with the Sacramento Kings and debuted in September 2020 during a very challenging time amidst the height of the pandemic. With 55-75 physically distanced tables on the expansive common areas of the iconic plaza, DOCO Al Fresco was designed to accommodate up to 150-200 individuals and allowed guests to order from multiple DOCO restaurants and beverage providers that included Echo & Rig, Local Eats at Golden 1 Center, Polanco Cantina, Sauced BBQ & Spirits, Tahoe Blue Ridge Bar and Yard House.
Each year, the MAXI Awards highlights innovative events, programs and technologies that add value to shopping centers and companies across the United States and Canada. Categories are designed to illuminate the evolution of the industry while rewarding creativity and innovation with Gold, Silver, and Finalist distinctions.
