DOCO to Present “Dad’s Day Driven to a Cure” on Father’s Day
-- Special Activation includes Display of High-Performance Cars, Live Music and More to Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® Central Valley Region --
Sacramento, Calif. – DOCO (Downtown Commons), the Sacramento Kings and the Golden 1 Center are proud to partner with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® Central Valley Region to present “Dad’s Day Driven to a Cure” on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20, from 2 to 9 p.m. DOCO guests, shoppers and diners will be dazzled by up to 15 high performance, rare and exotic cars on display throughout the iconic plaza and live music by Kandia from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Love + Honey from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
While most of the specialty vehicles are owned by local individual collectors and enthusiasts, some of the eye-catching cars will be provided by the nearby California Automobile Museum. Examples of the cars that will be on display include a '79 Porsche 911 Euro SC and a ‘59 Buick Invicta Convertible. A significant portion of the entry fee for each vehicle will support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Central Valley Region as part of the Man & Woman of the Year philanthropic competition to fund blood cancer research. In addition, DOCO Al Fresco guests can scan a QR code at their table for more information about the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and/or to make donations.
“I’m truly inspired by the LLS mission and am ‘all in’ to support their dedicated efforts to find real cures for blood cancers,” said event organizer and Man of the Year candidate Max Mack. “The very least I can do is use my skills and expertise to raise much-needed funds for their research and patient advocacy efforts to enhance the quality of life for those afflicted with blood cancers that include leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.”
The six DOCO restaurants and beverage providers for the “Al Fresco” experience include Echo & Rig, Local Eats at Golden 1 Center, Polanco Cantina, Sauced BBQ & Spirits, Tahoe Blue Ridge Bar, and Yard House. With 55 physically distanced tables on the common areas of the main plaza, DOCO Al Fresco can accommodate up to 150 guests. This seating is in addition to the extended outdoor seating currently offered by several DOCO restaurants and eateries.
Advanced reservations are available, and walk-ins are welcome. To request reservations for groups of 13 or more, please visit docoalfresco@legends.net (include name, preferred date, time, and number in party). Once seated, diners scan a QR code from their mobile device and choose from pull down menus of the participating DOCO restaurants. Powered by Rooam, a user-friendly app allows diners to order from multiple restaurants at once and watch live progress of their selections as they are received, prepared, and delivered to the table. All beverages, including beer, wine, and cocktails, will be serviced from the Tahoe Blue Ridge Bar on the plaza and ordered while seated at individual tables. Guests can receive one check – regardless of how many restaurants they ordered from – or opt for multiple checks by individual order and pay via a seamless and contactless system that includes Apple Pay, Google Pay or credit/debit card options.
